Your mindful transportation choices will drastically improve the air quality by reducing emissions and promoting sustainability in Yerevan. Below are our suggestions on how to take action today for a cleaner, healthier future.
Choose public transportation - Many people in Yerevan use private cars for transportation, which contributes to air pollution through emissions of greenhouse gases and other harmful pollutants. Public transportation has the potential to reduce the number of cars on the road, and thereby reduce air pollution levels. Public transportation will allow more people to travel with fewer vehicles and can also run on cleaner energy sources such as electricity or natural gas. Encouraging people to use public transportation can also reduce traffic congestion and improve access to jobs and services.
Choose bicycles and scooters - Bicycles and scooters are powered by human energy or electricity, which significantly reduces emissions and improves air quality. They are more efficient than cars in terms of fuel consumption, and they take up less space on the road, decrease traffic congestion and improve the flow of traffic. Encouraging people to use bicycles and scooters can have other benefits, such as improving physical fitness and reducing stress levels.
Use electric vehicles -Electric vehicles have lower operating costs than traditional gas-powered cars, since electricity is generally cheaper than gasoline. EVs also require less maintenance than traditional vehicles, since they have fewer moving parts and don't need oil changes.
Phase out vehicles manufactured before 2005 - older cars emit more pollution than newer cars. As cars age, their emission control systems become less effective, which means they emit more pollutants into the air. By phasing out old cars, we can reduce the overall level of pollution in the city.
